Hyphenated radios?

Followup: It's interesting how TechWhack, for one, changed its lead on the Sirius "wearable" gadget. They started out calling it a "wearable satellite radio" or somesuch, as did many other techie sites. Today, their headline is:
Sirius Satellite Radio to launch radio storage device S50
And they're saying the Ipod is getting a different kind of competitor. See, the Sirius S50 plugs into a dock in your car, or at home, if you want to spend an extra $100, and that's the only time it's receiving Sirius satellite channels. You pick it up and stick it in your pocket and listen when you're outside your home pod. Not listening to live radio, playing back. The thing holds up to 50 hours of it.

So, what's this tell you about the nature of the radio-audio future, people? Who wants a single-function "portable radio." Why has Apple sold over 20 million Ipods, which does nothing but store and play back audio files you can only buy from Apple? To people willing to pay from one to four hundred bucks for their pocket-sized player? Do you really think doing another playlist shuffle and naming the station Fred is the long-term solution?
