Hand me that microscope, please.

Here's an article from a radio-trade-writer-turned-research-salesman, on the subject of: "Is There a Halo Effect for Remakes?" Sean Ross writes on the Edison Research site:
When the Aerosmith version of “Come Together” performs well in music research, are audiences responding to that performance of the song, or the strength of the original? Is the ongoing appeal of “I’ll Be Missing You” by Puff Daddy still getting a boost from “Every Breath You Take”?
There you go. Precisely the kind of angels/head-of-pin stuff that's kept radio guys from perceiving the wide world for years and years and years.
