Think-through 2; what's radio?

This morning, thinking about my new project--the development of a true local news-talk radio station--I was reminded how fast things are moving by this story in the NYTimes. Bravo is big-into developing Web sites for their program products that don't make it or are two narrowly targeted for cable. If we're talking about targeting radio stations in some new and creative way, and tower radio's distribution exclusivity is under attack, why bother? You must stream your product on the Web and must get on cellphones somehow, anyway. While you're inventing new programming, you must solve the distribution problem, too. Bingo. We're not in "just-radio" anymore, Toto, and "radio" is much more than AM-FM.
